Sean Dyche has been crowned Premier League Manager of the Month for April after picking up his side following a huge setback at Chelsea to collect the points needed to guarantee top-flight safety with three games to spare.

Dyche's side collected 13 points from a possible 18, nine of them gained in a pivotal week of three consecutive home victories that began with a vital 2-0 triumph over rivals at the bottom, Nottingham Forest.

The pick of the performances was an impressive win over Liverpool in the Merseyside derby that put paid to the Reds' title ambitions before and Brentford were beaten 1-0, a result that ensured the Toffees will be play Premier League football again next season.

Dyche, who beat Arsenal boss Mike Arteta and Pep Guariola of Manchester City to the award is the first Everton manager to be named Manager of the Month since Carlo Ancelotti in September 2020 but he had received the accolade twice during his time at Burnley.

He does so this time despite overseeing a 6-0 defeat at Chelsea in mid-April that could have been the catalyst for the Blues to spiral into further chaos and drop into the bottom three but they responded superbly under the manager.

“I’m very pleased, obviously on behalf of firstly myself, but of my staff and the players, and the fans who have played their part," Dyche said.

“It was a really good run, very pleasing and a tough month of fixtures, especially with one outstanding fixture which didn’t go our way, of course.

“But I think the way the way we performed generally as a group has been very pleasing.”

Shurely shome mishtake, Shirley?

The Premier League don't like us. We say they are corrupt. They want us relegated.

There is no way in hell they are going to name Sean Dyche as Manager of the Month.

Michael,

I'm not convinced that them naming Sean Dyche as Manager of the Month negates the extent to which they went after us, but you crack on... :)

As the lovely Elaine Benes said in Seinfeld, "Something stinks in here!"

As Micheal said, no way do the corrupt Premier League give us anything, do you think it's because we withdrew the appeal? Very dodgy.

Giving Dyche manager of the month doesn't mean anything.

Great work, Mr Dyche. Need more of the same next season.

Yeah but it will look great on his CV for the Man Utd job!!!

Manager of the Month… Manager of the Season, more like, achieving what he has with the shitshow he's had to put up with, and that he has only had a couple of farthings to spend.

I'm looking forward to a much more stress-free encounter tomorrow…

Well deserved. Congrats. to Sean.
How they recovered from a 6-0 reverse was just amazing and then to beat the RS was unbelievable.

With all the BS going on around he somehow saved this club from the drop with a less than average squad to work with.

I believe this will be the 10th comment on this thread. 10.

If there is any self-respecting Everton supporter out there, they will say to a man (or woman) how deserving of this award he is.

Incredible achievement. We all know the shit show that has taken place this season, cheers, Premier League.

I can sadly imagine dozens if not hundreds of posts on here if for example De Zerbi or Robert Frank had achieved this.

Get him at Everton, look what he's done – limited budget, small squad.
Dyche is ours and we should thank him for performing a minor miracle this season.

I really hope that Everton keep him for next season.

My word, he's earned his money this season. Just imagine being the manager of this madhouse. The pressure, the dysfunction…

I would have buckled long ago, but he's been as straight as a die right the way through.

Well done, but let's see how we how we do in our next two games.

The home faithful deserve a really good showing from our lads against a team that's already gone down.

And can we avoid our usual thrashing down at the Arsenal for once!?

I wish our managerial question had a different answer than Dyche, but it doesn't for the time being and I think Trevor 10 and Kevin 12 make very fair points. I suspect Dyche can't wait to write the book(s) about this past season. It's not just having a less than brilliant squad but can you imagine the behind the scenes stuff and being the only calm adult in the room, trying to keep highly strung professional footballers on point?

As and when we do move on from him, I'll wish him well, but he won't need it, I don't think he'll ever be short of work. Maybe he deserves a better gig to rise to, but there will be plenty of good money in desperate rescue acts if he wants it...

Well earned, and more of the same effort, application and hard work on the park and at Finch Farm.

Let's hope that MSP can pull off a clean takeover of Everton FC and BMD.

UTFTs!

Well! Speculated on the last Live Forum but probably not expected, as would discomfit the Premier League.

Deal was, drop the appeal, get the award. ;-)

Well deserved for Dyche and I actually think that, if Iraola is in the running for Manager of the Season, then Dyche should have been as well.

He's done a great job in keeping us up... but I'd love to have an insight to the conversations he, Woan and Stone have on the touchline…

Pretty basic stuff getting served up. Soul-destroying at times this season. But we live to fight another season!!

Leaving aside all the differing views, he's surely earned
a bit of a shout from the crowd tomorrow, certainly more
than super Frank enjoyed.

Oh no… the dreaded Manager of the Month award.

We are doomed, I tells ya!

Manager of the Season by a country mile.

Keeping the troops motivated and plugging away in these circumstances was nothing short of miraculous.

No squad options of any note to do anything beyond hang on to his method and more importantly keep the players believing was incomparable.

He's not perfect – who is? – but he's proven to be perfect for us.

Yes, guaranteed 3 points for Sheffield United.

13/2 on Paddy Power. With this jinx, that is almost a licence to print money.

Well done Sean Dyche, I always had faith in him doing a decent job, but openly admit, that was wavering at times, with some turgid displays.

Just imagine what is achievable with an even keel, Ownership sorted, and a happy but hard-working squad. Which I hope Branthwaite is still a part of next season and beyond.

Well done, Sean. I thought we were doomed after the Chelsea match.

He's earned the right to take the club forward on a longer-term basis and he and Kevin are working well together. If we can find a way to keep Branthwaite, that would be awesome.

Credit where credits due.
Now let's see how he can do with a normal season. With a couple of players of his choosing, a couple of dead woods off the books. No absolute dickheads in the boardroom.
European qualification?

Manager of the Season, folks? Oh come on! What have you been watching?

We are a terrible football team and I don't agree with those who say that's all down to the players.

A decent month for sure, so credit there, but anything more than that is pure folly. COYB.

John, we have some decent defensive players but the quality in the attacking third is terrible – as is the squad depth.

There's no more than 4 or 5 teams with worse in the Premier League.

Well done, Mr Dyche, Gaffer. The win over the Red Shite was worth this alone.

Congratulations and thoroughly deserved. Please keep up the high standards this month has set. COYB
