The Blues will be down to the bare bones when they travel to South London to take on the Eagles this weekend in the evening televised kickoff.
Abdoulaye Doucouré is suspended and Iliman Ndiaye looks set to be sidelined for a number of weeks, joining Dwight McNeil, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Orel Mangala, Séamus Coleman, Youssef Chermiti, and Armando Broja on the absentee list.

As Jim @ 1 alluded we are down to a threadbare squad regarding availability, whether we will have enough to not only cope, but preferably win or even draw. Ever the optimist, I am hoping for a win. Hope Alcaraz can shine, presumably in from the start. COYB

I rarely, if ever, try to predict lineups. Today will be a case of who's fit and can put their boots on!!
Important match today. Another result and we get closer to the objective. We can win this one. Palace have been a decent side but have blown hot and cold this season. Everton have been poor these last few season, but picking up important points. Only 3 points separate us and the wannabe ultras.
Safe travels to those leaving Merseyside in a few hours time. I have the relative luxury of making my way across London slightly later than for our home fixtures. I've done my research on Google maps. Ten minute walk and in a near straight line from Selhurst station to meet with some familiar names. What can go wrong?
Time to forget the ecstasy of Wednesday for now and focus on what is directly in front of us.
15/02/2025 at 07:00:26
Safe journeys to all our travelling Blues and help bring back the spoils as only you can, loud and passionate.Hard fought 1-0 win is a big ask for our boys after a stonking derby performance and injury forced emissions from team selection, but I sense that we could still do it,everyone who is called upon to don the Royal Blue shirt knows whats needed and what must be done to ensure it,grit, determination and belief in themselves.COYB were behind you.

This is a decent kick-off time for us exiled blues in New Zealand. It will be 6.30am on a Sunday morning over here. The performances in the past month have made the sleepless nights worth it. But prior to that I was beginning to question my own sanity on why I was bothering.
This will be a tough game, Palace are capable of beating anyone when they are in the mood, so we will have to be solid at the back and careful not to give the ball away through lazy passes.
I hope we dont put 2 keepers on the bench again, I just cant see the point. May as will give one of the kids experience of a big game atmosphere on the bench rather than an aging keeper who has little to no chance of coming on.
15/02/2025 at 07:18:08
Buzzing for today. Luckilly I found out on Wednesday that the kick off is 5.30 (not 3pm as on the ticket) otherwise Id be sat in the Prince George on my own from 12 and Ray arsed by kick off! (Plus ce change…)
Hope you find your way ok from west to south London Danny - its a cold one - dont forget your coat!

There won't be many senior players on the bench, but hopefully the available players have recovered well enough... I'm not sure many of us have!
My match days are becoming fewer and further between, but I'm looking forward to meeting up with a couple of good mates(that I haven't seen in a good while) for this one.
Mark, Danny and whoever else is going from TW/Evertonia - give me a quick text 07985901398 as it'd be nice to put some faces to names.

The team will pretty much pick itself with the injuries and suspensions - 9 first teamers missing.
Harrison will replace Ndiaye on the left and Alcaraz will come in for the suspended Doucoure. I am looking forward to seeing how he performs.
I think this is a winnable game that would pretty much ensure our safety. Hopefully, we start with intensity.
15/02/2025 at 07:51:52
Ah, Duncan see you at Coulsdon South at 3.
Palace is a terrible ground for away fans I couldn't see fuck all last time I was there. The ball was missing from view way to often causing frustration - I'm sure Palace could do something about it.
The team probably picks itself with Illamin and Duke out - Tim comes in and hopefully learns to pass. O Brien was impressive and quick for his size I'm starting to think we have a serious player on our hands. wtf did Dyche not see.
15/02/2025 at 08:05:16
Shall I bring a little wooden step for you Paul?

To all those travelling to Selhurst Park today enjoy. I was there 2 years ago when my daughters best friend whose family are Palace Supporters got me a ticked right on the half way line. Had to keep quiet and nearly lost it when DCL just missed the post and when Holgate was sent off. However I posted on TW that I was proud of the Blues Section down to the right. Your support was louder than the lot around me.
Keep it going again today.

What TW is missing now is your pre match piece on the next match, the players available and possible line outs and subsequent discussions. A least here we are looking forward to our next match and the hopes and aspirations it brings.
15/02/2025 at 09:05:09
Finally playing a team who we can say that we are their bogey team.
15/02/2025 at 09:19:36
Danny, are you still ok for Monday? I might be able to arrange a lift from somewhere beforehand if you let me know.
15/02/2025 at 09:26:01
I was looking forward to seeing some nice little fruitful exchanges between Alcaraz and Ndiaye.
And the possibility of Beto profiteering.
the idea of Harrison replacing Ndiaye doesnt enthuse.
Hes been there before.. down Blind Alleys, running straight into players.
Just hope him being played on the left, can Chang it up a bit.

We just got 2 tickets in the home end ….
Best behaviour required and just remembered what a shitty place to get to Selhurst Park is …
Winnable game with Moyes refreshing approach but well need to move up the pitch more than we did at Brighton
15/02/2025 at 09:59:29
Still no thread for this game on TW.
15/02/2025 at 10:02:09
Literally down to the bare bones today. Bench will be Young, Keane and, probably, Iroegbunam alongside kids and a couple of keepers! Still think the the starting 11 is good enough to get something today if Wednesday night didnt take too much out of the team, emotionally as much as physically.
15/02/2025 at 10:11:43
Lyndon, we'll actually have 9 absentees with Patterson also injured. Bare bones indeed!
15/02/2025 at 10:13:06
I see Dixon coming back to the bench and one more (Mcalister would be a good choice if he's fit)
15/02/2025 at 10:14:43
Cody Ebere has also just returned from injury. At least he would be an extra striker
15/02/2025 at 10:15:40
Callum Bates is injured I believe (correct me if I'm wrong)
15/02/2025 at 10:18:27
reece Welch (tall CB) has also just returned from a loan spell. He could be available. All these kids will just be benchwarmers we know. However, I believe Moyes made a mistake at the weekend by bringing on Yopung and not the striker Martin Sherif. let's hope he gets a runout today. Give Beto a rest at the end of the game or go 2 up top.
15/02/2025 at 10:19:15
Sorry I meant a mistake on Wednesday during the derby match
15/02/2025 at 10:19:37
Brent,
Still okay for Monday. I'll give you a call, but will be okay for a lift, so don't worry about that.
Anthony,
I hope you have a great day. I've done the home end thing a few times, the last one being at Brighton a few weeks ago. It's hard containing yourself, and at Wolves a few seasons ago, We pulled one back and I couldn't contain myself. I chatted happily with those around me, no problems. However, someone took offence, but not to my face. Having joined as a Wolves member to get the ticket, I got a letter from Wolves a week later warning me about giving my tickets to opposition supporters.
I was at United a couple of seasons ago with the United fans. They were actually fine with me. Good banter, but maybe because they won!!
Way back, I somehow ended up with a majority of Liverpool supporters with my dad in the Paddock, when it was still standing with fences between the supporters and the pitch.
There are a few of people on here likely to congregate in the Prince George. Mark tells me I can't miss it!!
15/02/2025 at 10:21:40
Thanks, Danny.
15/02/2025 at 10:23:30
Danny, Mark will be outside the Prince George holding a candle, next an open window, so should be easy to find!
15/02/2025 at 10:26:33
We have had a few decent results recently. Only disappointment was that cup defeat. And we can, if we turn up, win this match. Its all about turning up. And tbh, who knows with Everton.
How about Moyes comes out with, We are now taking a bazooka to a gun fight. Beto the Bazooka. Boom.
Or even Tarks the Torpedo.
We need to take our chances today, dont really want to hear about Harrison or Linstrom missing sitters. Or any player missing, for that matter. Just bury everything. Boom.
Just a little fun, but for today, my team would be, the keeper and defence pick themselves. And how about a midfield of Garner, Gueye and Tim, also Alcaraz. With Linstrom and Beto up top.
Not rocket science, thats all we have. So please, not more injuries and hopefully a few players back soon. Maybe Patterson or Coleman can shore up the midfield. Why not.
With hindsight, we should have kept hold of young Armstrong.
So lets hope that we can today find that through ball for Beto to latch on to. Its worked well so far. Dont really care if Beto cant track back, just bury one in the onion bag. That will do for me.
And in Nyiades absence, its time for other players to step up in the goal scoring department. Harrison when he comes on, and Linstrom are both due a goal. Maybe Branthwaite or Tarks from a set piece. Or how about first goals for OBrien or Alcaraz.
Need to be positive here. We can still, if we turn up, score a couple of goals.
I fully know that this Everton team on any given day, can be awful. Lets be honest, we can be awful. Its not like the mid 1980s, when we knew that we were going to win, and we mainly did win. But Im being bullish about today, we can get at this Palace outfit.
Everyone do their job, We can beat them. We can climb this league. Just dont let us all down, dont revert to that god awful football that is lurking not that far away from an Everton team.
Lets rock and roll. Lets win this match.
Have a good day folks. And please, no more injuries.
15/02/2025 at 10:30:24
Given the shortage of players Im surprised the club havent recalled Harrison Armstrong. He doesnt seem to be getting a game at Derby, so would be more use on our bench.
15/02/2025 at 10:33:13
I thought it strange too that Harrison Armstrong was allowed out on loan when we had so many injuries.
15/02/2025 at 10:33:37
Moyes has never won against a Glasner team. It's time to put that right. Also it's time to win in London again. It's been a while! UTT! Is that positive enough Victor?
15/02/2025 at 10:34:38
He's going to be marching there Rob!
15/02/2025 at 11:28:24
I have said Adieu to TW as the new owners are totally useless so how about Evertonia adopting all the old bits Lyndon that you used to do so well at TW in the old days as they are useless and not doing now for a respectable fan site? Can't see that TW will provide anything like a decent service for us fans. There is a gap that needs filling.
15/02/2025 at 11:55:58
Peter H, totally agree, up until earlier I was switching between sites but the last straw was no pre-match or anything really since the Derby match. I get the feeling that many others will follow suit.
15/02/2025 at 12:15:59
TW is genuinely awful now.
It is a real shame.
Reading a match preview by genuine fans who care about the result is something I had got used to.
If that isn't up Lyndon's street, are there any genuine alternative sites?
15/02/2025 at 12:28:03
TW still had a great LF for the derby. This site was very quiet. I'd say stick with this site genuinely but maybe switch to toffeeweb for the matchday LF.
15/02/2025 at 12:29:16
Back in 1997 when we had an injury crisis, I remember the likes of Michael Ball, Danny Cadamarteri, Richard Dunne all had to cone in and they did well, drawing with Liverpool (Big Dunc's goal on the turn) and beating Chelsea. Michael Branch and Franny Jeffers got a chance around that time too. Hope there ate some young men in the under 21s who can step up to the bench and make a name for themselves. The young boy Heath made the bench for the derby..now that name had an Everton ring to it!
15/02/2025 at 12:38:49
TW has gone for me. It's only Evertonia from now. I might lurk to see what's going down (operative phrase) on TW but probably won't be posting. I've said my farewells.
15/02/2025 at 12:39:07
John 26, good call. I would love to see Reece get a few while we are comfortably on top.
UTOFM!
15/02/2025 at 12:43:43
Outrageous Brent! At least you had a choice. Michael must have left me listed as a permanent ban. I could not even post with a new profile, though I did submit under the name Curt Snyder.
15/02/2025 at 12:48:33
Are there any freebies out there to fill a gap or 2?
The squad is very worryingly thin (without stating the obvious).
Losing two players through kicking the ground is just pure Everton bad luck.
Watching Arsenal and how they should have signed a striker. Still, Id rather they beat Leicester to widen the gap.
COYB!!!!!!
15/02/2025 at 12:48:50
Hi Dale, reece is a Centre Back - I don't think he's scored a goal yet :) Martin Sherif and Cody Ebere on the other hand know where the back of the net is. We need to take the pressure off Beto - he's our only fit experienced striker we have!
15/02/2025 at 12:53:26
Dale, now you have a new home, behave yerself.
15/02/2025 at 12:58:03
Still waiting for Victor Yu to join from the Luton forum :)
15/02/2025 at 13:06:03
Reece Welch and Callum Bates played in yesterday's U-21 defeat, so they are unlikely to be on the bench tonight. However, Sherif, Ebere, Heath and Dixon were not involved so will probably be the bench fillers today.

15/02/2025 at 13:32:32
We're down to the bare bones now,and our bench is a lot weaker, and palace are on a roll, our defence is strong, so would be great to get a result today, and heading right up the table. Sad to see the toffeeweb forum hasn't even posted the game yet.
15/02/2025 at 14:02:07
Christy I think we are not the only one's down to the bare bones. Toffeeweb has a load of absentees including those that supposedly run it.
15/02/2025 at 14:05:40
I hope they show the Palace Cheerleaders. The best England has to offer. 😂
15/02/2025 at 14:20:45
I never understand why people buy a successful business and then change the fundamentals of it almost straight away.
At the very least, youd expect the new owners of TW to stick to the processes Michael and Lyndon had in place. Match preview 24-48 hours before kick-off etc. its like were not even playing this weekend if you check the site today.
Fuck ‘em. Evertonia is much better and Lyndon is a true blue (and a good guy all round IMHO). The site needs a few tweaks but its 1,000 times better than TW.
15/02/2025 at 14:38:58
Christy, in the spirit of the new place and the higher standards expected, I apologize for insulting your opinion and how you expressed it over at that other spot. And a second apology since it turned out Dyche had lost the players. I got a bit over invested after the personal attacks on him and thought he would make it just over the line. So why not have some fun with it?
I will use a better tone here, with a possible pass taken if a live forum ever breaks out.
15/02/2025 at 14:43:33
Isnt this a live forum?
Well it will have to do until a real live forum gets here!
15/02/2025 at 15:05:56
I think its the closest we are going to get for the time being Jeff. Regardless, Im sticking with the site that is actually run by an Evertonian.
15/02/2025 at 15:10:08
Jeff, its like a live forum, but everyone on here today is posting after a five line preview of the match that told us very little about the game at 5-30pm but each to their own although I read every one of them and they made no difference if they where on here or on Toffeeweb and I was an admirer of Lyndon and Michael.
To all those going to the game keep your brilliant support up and I hope you come as happy as you were on Wednesday night although that will be impossible, COYB.
15/02/2025 at 15:30:58
Brentford doing the biz so far and looking good according to SKY.

Newcastle been shocking at City. That young LB Lewis Hall has no idea how to defend
15/02/2025 at 15:56:06

Any news on Chermiti?
Id leave Garner alongside Garner and use Tim or Charly in the advanced role. I think Jimmy Garner is a decent tackler and we can still benefit from his passing ability from the central position. Anyone doing the Doucoure role mainly has to cover a prodigious amount of turf.
Harrison may not be Ndiaye but he can still do a decent job. I think hes been miles better on the left than the right and is gaining more and more confidence each game hes not simply plonked on the right.
Couldnt work out whether Patterson was out for a while or just not worth risking on Wednesday so hopefully hes another one in the match day squad.
Crystal Palace are yet another of the hot or cold brigade. Weve obviously been more hot than cold recently and if we can use the finish on Weds to launch ourselves out the blocks today another 3 points is readily available.
Come on yoouuu Bluuuues!!!!

Lyndon has made it clear that Evertonia is not his ‘ToffeeWeb MKII attempt so can people please stop calling for ToffeeWeb features.
The new guys on actual TW are obviously finding out just how much work went into it on a daily basis. They obviously need time and, perhaps, a revision of their strategy. People will need to be patient and see how things pan out.
15/02/2025 at 17:12:32
I hope Harrison has a great game and makes some of us (me included) eat our words. Will be interesting to see how Alcaraz does.
Quite a few players yet to score this season, time to start spreading some goals from new areas. Will be very tough, proper down to bare bones. Hoping for a two game al win so that we go above Palace!
15/02/2025 at 17:16:09
So, are we going to try and divide our time between this forum and the Live TW one? ;-)
15/02/2025 at 17:19:31
Happy with starting line-up. 4 youngsters on bench (6 if you count Virginia and Iroegbunam). Everyone happy with that or should one of the goalies be replaced by another young outfield player?
15/02/2025 at 17:24:14
Hoping for another good showing, maybe some will tire early after 98 mins on Wednesday.
A point puts us further away from the troubles, and 3 leaps us over spurs and utd...
Hmm, that would look good
15/02/2025 at 17:24:21
We could go above the mighty United.
Moyes would love that!

Didnt see that coming! Brilliant finish, hilarious mistake from Palace.

15/02/2025 at 18:16:00
Weird. I thought Beto was shit, and Thelwell was shit for buying him?
15/02/2025 at 18:16:30
Great assist from Charly!
15/02/2025 at 18:19:48
Doing well against a good Palace side and the worst anti-Everton 'ref' in PL history
15/02/2025 at 18:22:19
At half time (I know, I know...) we're in 13th place, 13 points off 5th (Europe), 13 off 17th (relegation)... lucky for some?
15/02/2025 at 18:26:12
The thing with Beto is he wins a big percentage of his headers but you just don't know where it's going to end up. You have to love him though he's getting there. A few more games like this and he keeps scoring he ain't going nowhere
15/02/2025 at 18:26:30
They are better than the RS. Got to be careful here.
15/02/2025 at 18:26:56
As an all round footballer I still think he is, Rob. But as an out and out goalscorer, he seems to be a confident finisher.
Depends how you use him. If you want him to play much football then you'll be disappointed.
We would never have found this out with Beto under Dyche. The manager this regime appointed, and the player this regime signed for Dyche.
"We're constantly trying to find ways to be more effective in attack". It was bullshit every time he said it.
How unusual for us to be leading a game and the key difference to be the quality of the respective attackers when presented with a great chance. Sarr blazed / Beto calmly stroked it home
15/02/2025 at 18:31:27
Beto is putting a shift in like. Id pack the midfield and let Charly roam behind Beto more
15/02/2025 at 18:33:34
Weve had to ride our luck a bit and have been a bit shaky in defence, but still look like we can create chances. Very happy so far to be winning.
15/02/2025 at 18:36:59
I was one of the ones saying Beto was not the answer, hold my hands and head up, how wrong I was, but it goes to show the difference between Moyes and Dyche. Long may it continue !
15/02/2025 at 18:37:09
Typical mistakes in defence again FFS
15/02/2025 at 19:10:11
Charly boy 🔥👊👏👏👏👏
15/02/2025 at 19:10:54
Geddin
15/02/2025 at 19:17:13
I was saying he needed to come off! He was stretching out cramp and struggling. Finished that calmly though.
15/02/2025 at 19:27:18
Massive 3 points - again!
15/02/2025 at 19:28:02
Yesss, 13th now and looking up. Well done Moysie and the team that couldn't buy a goal six weeks ago
15/02/2025 at 19:28:31
Yeeeeeessssssss another three points and above Man U and Spurs
15/02/2025 at 19:28:54
Absolutely huge. What a turnaround.
15/02/2025 at 19:29:37
If wed have scored another 2 goals wed have been above Palace as well
15/02/2025 at 19:30:20
Great result against a decent Palace side. UTFT, well played lads
15/02/2025 at 19:30:20
I'd written Beto off a few weeks ago. More fool me.
15/02/2025 at 19:30:24
Is anyone anywhere still bitter about Moyes….get in you blues
15/02/2025 at 19:30:33
Congratulations David Moyes and the bare bones team, what a result. Two brilliant results in 4 days
15/02/2025 at 19:31:08
WHAT a fecking week!
Shame about the Cup, but seriously I don't think it's mad to talk about a late run for a European spot!
We're definitely going to be setting sights on top half, and most of the teams (below Bournemouth at least) are looking decidedly patchy (e.g. Chelsea dropping like a stone, Villa drawing with 10-man Ipswich, Brighton and Brentford very inconsistent).
In. Moyes. We. Trust!!! COYB!!!
15/02/2025 at 19:34:20
Beto always was well schooled in the basics. What he needed was a Manager who understood his style of player.Even Harrison looks better. The whole team looks better.Charly our only Jan arrival, looks like he was always here.
Moyes has jumped all the barriers.
Get for the fabulous away supporters. They deserved that.
15/02/2025 at 19:35:25
YAYYYYY!!
Alcaraz scores on his full Debut.
Beto gets MOM, after revealing this week, that DM gives him advice and encouragement… without SHOUTING. At him.
Currys receive their fourth TV for repair, in as many weeks, from Sean Dyche…nothing technical, just a Broken Screen !
15/02/2025 at 19:35:54
Moyes has some serious buy in with this squad. Solid away performance but considering who is out, a masterclass patchwork. Obrien and Myko contributed crucially in possession, Alcaraz showed class and second balls won showed the lines were moving together well.
UTOFM!
15/02/2025 at 19:37:05
Only one would have done it Nigel as they would have lost on the their GD :)
15/02/2025 at 19:37:12
Fantastic again! Great result after the efforts on Wednesday. Is it greedy to think about potentially finishing top 10? Maybe unrealistic given our injury list. But fuck it, we can do it I reckon. What a turnaround Moyes has brought about. Especially in Beto!!
15/02/2025 at 19:44:35
"we are constantly trying to find ways to be more effective in front of goal".
Dyche blamed the players.
We've scored 12 in the 6 games since Moyes came in. For context we've only got 27 for the season. And we didn't score in his first game when he'd been at the club for only a day or two.
We might be the form team in the league? Top 2 or 3 surely.
It's an insane turnaround. It's an absolute indictment of what went before even if the form is outside what anyone could even have dreamed of.
We should never have been benchmarking ourselves against the likes of Ipswich and Southampton. I totally get the net spend issue, but our wage bill never justified those comparisons. It was extreme expectation management from a conman of a manager with one approach to football.
15/02/2025 at 19:47:23
Congratulations David Moyes and the bare bones team, what a result. Two brilliant results in 4 days so John a clean sheet would have done it
15/02/2025 at 19:51:59
Fantastic win. Beto was superb all game. A fantastic finish for his goal.
15/02/2025 at 19:56:08
Derek Knox
I think you may well get your wish.
With Alcaraz putting in a great show, with a goal and assist,
I think Doucore cant walk back in, if he continues in this vein.
15/02/2025 at 19:56:09
How nice is it to hear opposition managers talking about us being hard to beat, when they have lost to us?
Same narrative, completely different story.
15/02/2025 at 20:01:26
Ernie, we are THE form team in the league. Since Moyes took over, we've got 13, Arsenal 13, nobody else with more than 10.
15/02/2025 at 20:02:03
Paul @ 131, it would surely be a travesty if Alcaraz didn't appear next match, 1 assist and 1 goal. Even Harrison looks a different player under Moyes. Hoping we can continue the good form. We will have players coming back soon too, the future's bright the future's Royal Blue !
15/02/2025 at 20:19:01
Are we watching the same team that Dyche said he can't take them any further. Moyes who I didn't want back is unreal, and a manager who definitely has matured, and gave the players total confidence, Beto is a different player because Moyes has praised him and gave him back his confidence, unlike a manager who shouted in his face, his words. Buzzing
15/02/2025 at 20:19:54
Thank heavens for DCL hamstring... Beto would be at Torino is the bone finishing striker did not pull a muscle I believe.
Up the Toffees.
15/02/2025 at 20:26:00
Thats a great 3 points. Another step towards safety. We are getting there. Beto scores again. We are now bringing a sniper to the gun fight. Beto the sniper. Hes becoming as prolific as Wood and Isac. Lets feed this guy, and keep this run going.
Dont care what he does badly in a match. And he doesnt have to track back imo. We have other players to do all that. All Beto has to do, is score goals. And for now, you just cant fault the guy. Would DCL have scores 4 goals in the last 6 league matches ? Im not sure he would have.
And a goal from Alcaraz. Boom.
Winning football matches makes the injuries a little easier to take. Its not ideal having players out, but winning a few matches and pulling clear from the bottom 3 makes things a little palatable. Just.
So its Man Utd next. And once again, its all about turning up. They are not great. They wont like it being put up to them.
Betos on a roll, Im backing him to score again next week. Why not.
Alcaraz looks ok to me. He can play a wee bit. Get Harrison and Linstrom up to speed. We needs the odd goal from these guys. Time that they chipped in.
No lethargic start next week. Start like we did against Leicester city. And tighten up our defence. No sloppy defending.
We can win next week.
Last points, what the hell was Dyche playing at, when Moyes can get this tune out of these players.
And last point, are we due any of our walking wounded back anytime soon. Lighten the load on the rest of the squad.
Goodnight folks. Enjoy the win. Up the Toffees.
15/02/2025 at 20:28:55
I like DCL but he is not scoring Betos goals, his injury has actually helped us since going out of the team, Beto is playing really well, scoring goals and leading the line, he had Konate shitting his pants on Wednesday and was a handful again today, Maguire will not be looking forward to next week, Beto will.
15/02/2025 at 20:40:14
Not everyone but many kept saying " Not even Pep would get a tune out of this lot"
How very wrong they were. Dyche is and was a dinosaur of a manager. A terrible coach who refused to play O'Brien because he wasn't up to it. Really ?
If Dyche ever gets a PL job anywhere again, that club would have to be desperate.
Take a bow David Moyes, a proper manager and UTFT's
15/02/2025 at 20:45:53
Dyche will get other prem jobs, but like Allardyce they will always be desperation jobs, firefighting, thats his MO now, I dont think he will ever be able to build a club like he did with Burnley.
15/02/2025 at 20:46:48
Derek Knox
My face is going to crack from smiling !
How different it feels, to have lost that foreboding sense of dread before each game.
To see out a game and fart at ease, without the panic.
Even with six minutes added, I still felt confident and didnt feel the need to reach for the Inhaler.
15/02/2025 at 20:48:16
Potter, Pah!!!! I give you David Moyes…..
15/02/2025 at 20:59:22
Great being amongst the travelling blues.
As usual, I'll give myself overnight to reflect. 6 minutes at the end, but ti's time I didn't want odd them!!!
15/02/2025 at 21:02:16
Id not even give Dyche a mention.
Mr Defend. Praises Ndiaye for his defensive work.
Good riddance to the man.
He probably ties his laces in a quadruple knot and boils the kettle twice.
Loving this run. Even with a weakened team.
Palace is a hard place to go.
COYB!
The other dirty reds next.
15/02/2025 at 21:23:53
Nobody mentioning Maupay tonight.
15/02/2025 at 21:27:42
Sean Mitchell.
Exactly! And he probably wears a Belt and Braces!
Did you see « Once upon a Time in the west ? »
When Henry Fonda says.. « how can you trust a man who wears both a belt and suspenders and cant even trust his own Pants ».
15/02/2025 at 21:39:02
Why would we David??
15/02/2025 at 21:41:38
Not sure why some fans can't just enjoy the now and have to keep slagging off the manager that kept Everton afloat when the ship was listing badly in very rough seas 🌊
Best players sold. No money.
Off field mess.
Vacuum of power.
Two points deductions.
He too rescued us after Lampard in a not dissimilar way to how Moyes has turned us around this time.
This squad seems to lose motivation after a couple of seasons of the same voice.
Dyche was honest enough to admit he seemed to not have the lads responding in the way to his voice as they had previously done.
Of course, he was flawed. All humans are flawed.
Did he try his best? Yes!
That's good enough for me.
Did he have Everton's best interests at heart? YES. That is also good enough for me.
To slag off such a man I think is wrong. But, each to their own.
Up the Toffees.
15/02/2025 at 22:01:29
Personally, I couldn't care less about comparisons between old and new. Unnecessary stuff in my view...I'm enjoying our resurgence, hoping we can get a few players back soon and looking forward to sending Goodison off with a positive outlook. It is so nice to not have relegation as a real threat... also we owe united after the last game
15/02/2025 at 00:00:10
Steve and Peter, I think we can both enjoy the current form and reflect on what has been one of the major discussion points of the last two years.
Was Dyche performing miracles and keeping us afloat as some (including Dyche and most of the media) said? Or was he lowering expectations to justify his approach to football?
I've argued the latter since the day he was appointed. Everton aren't a rival to Ipswich just because they bought a few players and we sold a few. We still have highly paid international players including one of the best keepers in the world that we paid a fortune for. Signings are a bit sexier but the players we have are good enough to not have to talk about relegation... unless you manage them as a relegation threatened team.
Beto isn't the most talented footballer around but he's being played to his strengths. That's how you manage a football team. That's how you find "ways to be more effective in front of goal".
16/02/2025 at 00:30:34
As Chris James pointed out, we are 13th after picking up 13 points under Moyes. We are 13 points above the relegation zone with 13 games to play. Has our luck turned?
16/02/2025 at 07:50:12
I know it's early days but what a difference Alcaraz has made in his two cameo appearances as sub, and then yesterday from the start. I think whoever spotted his availability, needs a commendation. Or it could have been an agent (?) although I wasn't aware of him, apart from when at Southampton, until a couple of days before the window shut.
I think needless to say, he is everything Doucoure isn't, or hopefully was ! Moyes has transformed Beto and a number of players, and we have some to return from injury too, the sooner the better. Imagine what he may do for them confidence wise.
I wasn't overjoyed when I heard we were touting Moyes as Dyche's successor, although under him, things were verging on desperation for anyone, just to see him get 10 lace-holes and 10 minutes to get his shit out of Finch Farm.
My opposition to Moyes was not because of any lingering memories from his time before, where he had reached the imaginary glass ceiling, but we were perennially safe under his tutelage.
My opposition was based on my belief that it very rarely works out for either a player or a Manager to be more successful second time round. Also coupled with his connection to the Maggot, the man that almost destroyed Everton, while claiming to be the best Evertonian on the planet.
I am glad enough, and man enough, to admit I was wrong with Moyes, but NOT with the Maggot ! Again early days but barring a disaster it looks like we are safe from any threat of relegation. 13 games left too, which surely we can garner some more points from, even if we manage half (roughly) of the potential points available we could be quite comfortable. I doubt whether Euro qualification is even a remote possibility, but places further up yield a decent pay day from the Premiership.
Peter @ 148, while in some ways I admire your defence of Dyche, I can't agree with much of it. Yes, he inherited a shit show, and by the skin of his, and the player's teeth, but also very much down to the fans at Goodison and of course other results favouring us, managed to avoid relegation.
The following season, two separate points deductions were a hammer blow, but again, players and fans pulled off some creditable points in matches to keep us safe. That is where my reluctant acknowledgement ends and by his own admission he admitted he was out of his depth and couldn't take us any further. Yet he still got paid for admitting failure.
The football, if you could call it that was dire, players had lost confidence, game plan zero, he was stubborn to changes and left subs too late. Now here's Moyes, with the same players plus one, but with a load of unforeseen injuries, to further throw a spanner in the works, yet has achieved a minor miracle with a few tweaks thus far.
Even Harrison is looking better, but I am in no way suggesting that he should be a permanent addition come next season. A few more Alcaraz type bargains will suffice !
16/02/2025 at 08:29:38

I already love this new website.
Great posts, laughs, knowledge, and Everton winning.
My now first go to website since the changeover from ToffeeWeb.
PS: That training top Tarks had on post match interview is smart. Thats getting purchased in due course.
We do make smart football stuff.

Excellent performance, not one of us could have predicted the turn around moyes has overseen.
Not easy games either, and with key players missing.
The effort shown yesterday was immense.
Pickford kept us in it.
Branthwaite back to his best.
Garner proving how much we've missed his ability on the ball.
Harrison even, so much more effective from the left.
Alacaraz looks like he has real quality, took his goal so well and the way he created the goal for beto gives shows he offers something we don't have in the sqad.
Belief and confidence are so important, you only have to look at beto, he's not trying too hard no more, more patience and it shows.
I wasn't enthusiastic about moyes coming back, but I'm 100% behind him, and he could lay tge foundations over the next 2 years for us to kick on in a sustainable way.
16/02/2025 at 21:50:58
I'm thrilled with our performance, and Beto has been superb, but to criticise Calvert-Lewin is totally wrong, against Spurs he was MoM, two different strikers
16/02/2025 at 23:30:49
100% Christy. This isn't DCL vs Beto. It's old style vs new style.
These guys are getting a chance to show what they're actually good at.
In Beto's case it seems to be runs and finishing. Dom offers far more all round without the same finishing ability. But both can now contribute (if fit).
What went before, from a striker's perspective, was largely irrelevant. We didn't play for them, we played for nil.
17/02/2025 at 05:47:18
The problem with Sean Dyche was his rigidity, he was not prepared to change things around as results got worse and worse with the same players playing in the same positions (badly )week after week.
Did he try Harrison on the left?
OBrien anywhere?, was Beto given two starts on the bounce or a couple of games alongside DCL? Young from the bench?
No he didnt try any of those things that are just of the top of my head which Moyse has tried and been successful, Sean Dyche had ample opportunity to move his limited chess pieces around, but he chose not to and has paid the price, lucky us.
17/02/2025 at 10:06:57
You're right that he didn't try many changes to personnel, Jeff. But I maintain it would have been irrelevant.
The style of football he demanded was never going to get a striker scoring goals. Doesn't matter whether it was Beto or DCL (who, by the way, scored and was MOTM against Spurs).
You can change a winger, but if you ask them to defend then what have you really changed?
His rigidity just made him a bad manager of any team except one that fitted his model. He'll be a worthy addition to a team who is chasing 17th, has no midfield or attack, and has a few big grock defenders.
Remember this is the guy who was lauded for his pragmatism. A guy who refused to budge from his way of playing football (if you can call it that). As I've said many times over the last two years - that's the opposite of pragmatism!

Harrison and Alcaraz in for Ndiaye and Ducoure seems path of least resistence.
I do wonder who exactly will be on the bench.
Kids with 2 ubiquitous goal keepers
Hope to see some of those younger ones get some game time as I am sure the first 11 will run out of puff early given their derby work rate.
