Carlos Alcaraz

Charly Alcaraz became the first permanent signing of The Friedkin Group era when his loan from Flamengo was converted to a permanent £12.5m transfer at the end of May 2025.
The Argentine was the new owners’ first acquisition when he joined Everton on loan the preceding January and though the club elected not to trigger an automatic purchase clause during the season by starting him in at least nine matches, David Moyes used the player judiciously in the interim period to enable him to earn the full-time switch from Brazil.
He signed a two-year contract with a club option for a further season and, the transfer, which reportedly includes appearance-related clauses that could add another £1.5m to the fee, means Everton will become Alcaraz’s fifth club in many seasons.
He broke into Racing Club’s senior side in his native Argentina in 2020 before moving to the Premier League in January 2023 with Southampton. He made a favourable enough impression in the Saints side that would be relegated that year to earn a loan move to Juventus before Flamengo signed him in a €18m deal in 2024.
Alcaraz’s failure to settle at the Brazilian club, coupled with their financial struggles, gave Moyes and Everton the opportunity to swoop in during the winter window and snap him up on loan and it now looks as though he is to become a permanent acquisition as TFG set about rebuilding the squad.
Alcaraz scored two goals in his 16 appearances, including an impressive header against Newcastle on the final day of the 2024/25 campaign as the Toffees beat the Magpies 1–0. He also weighed in with three assists, underlining his attacking contribution and his potential to become an explosive option in the number 10 role behind the centre-forward.
