Interesting articles, Kieran, but I think there is just the one factual error within it: "AFC Wimbledon fans created a new club, with a close version of their original name. They also developed their own home ground, only 250 miles from where their original one stood." Respectfully... having been down it, I know Plough Lane is a long old road- but one hadn't realised it was considerably longer than the M6 motorway!...

Well spotted James, yep, should have read 250m. Would hope I don't make the same mistake about BMD at any stage!

I think most Evertonians would remain Evertonians, even if "Everton" became a phoenix club playing in the local park.

Btw, was Goodison Park really "a ground that was edging closer to being refused the necessary permits to operate"? I do remember that line was spun as part of the Desperation Kirkby hype and yet it's remained in use decades later, miraculously.

Dennis, I was to a certain extent assuming. As an older ground I wasn't sure how much life she had left in her. In ways it was a hypothetical what if type of article.

I do wonder what will become of Goodison Park under new owners. Will they have the same commitment to Women's soccer?
