Everton have announced the final capacity for Hill Dickinson Stadium following what the Club describe as "a thorough post-construction audit and review of the seating configuration".

Pegged at 52,888 when construction began, the new ground will officially hold a maximum of 52,769 when it opens for the first time for a competitive match in August and Brighton & Hove Albion become the first opposition team to play a Premier League match there.

A statement on evertonfc.com explained: "Factors such as segregation lines between the home and away section and the compliance and provision for media facilities and camera positions have played a part in the original maximum capacity being reduced by 0.2% (119 seats)."

I always expected to see capacity slightly reduced once issues like segregation were factored in.

I don't expect the stadium to be a launching pad to annual tilts at the title, but I do expect a sustained improvement and cant wait to sample the atmosphere.

My 25 minute walk to Goodison has now become a five minute walk down Boundary Street. The old bones will appreciate that.

Getting very excited
