Everton's new flagship megastore at Hill Dickinson Stadium will open its doors for the first time tomorrow.

As the club continues to prepare their brand new 52,000+ stadium to stage its first Premier League match when Brighton & Hove Albion come to towm on Sunday 24 August, together with the curtain-raiser against AS Roma on 9 August, fans will be able to shop at the new official store from 9am this Tuesday.

Supporters are advised that access will be via a dedicated, manned entrance at Gate C. No other areas of the stadium will be accessible to shoppers at any time and there will be no on-site parking available.

Everton One at Goodison Park permanently closed its doors earlier this month but Everton Two store in the Liverpool One shopping precinct will continue to operate as usual, as will the online shop online at evertondirect.com.

The new official store will operate Monday-Sunday, including on all matchdays.

I’m guessing this was a low-key launch for the new store. That probably suited the club, allowing systems to be tested before the staff gear up (no pun intended) for busy match days.

Once the initial curiosity has worn off, it will be interesting to see how busy the store is on non-match days. Will a sufficient number of people visit the stadium to make the opening hours viable? So far the club has been silent on what else will be on offer, for example the access people will have to other areas around the stadium or the provision for refreshments.

Moreover if the stadium is to fulfil the vision of being a 7 day a week venue adequate parking and public transport will be essential. Stadium tours, parties from the cruise liners and casual visitors to the city all have the potential to boost footfall but people will need to be enticed to make their way out of the city centre.

I don't see why the club can't operate it's own transport. As with the club store, cut out the middlemen and lease your own fleet.

Providing transport for concerts, stadium tours, matchday experiences, corporate gigs, weddings etc, will make it a lot easier for people to access the stadium.

I will be interested to see how the new stadium is promoted on the visit liverpool website. The other lot appear on the home page and Everton doesn't get a mention until the third page of attractions in the city, even then it;s Goodison.
