Everton have completed the long-awaited transfer of Tyler Dibling after negotiating a deal with Southampton for the 19-year-old worth a reported £35m, with a further £5m dependent on appearances.

The Blues had a series of bids flatly rejected by Saints earlier this month, with the south coast club seeking to maximise any return on a hot young academy prospect whom some at St Mary's believe is their best product for a generation.

However, with the transfer window dragging on into the new season and the teenager having expressed his desire to make the move to Merseyside, the Southampton hierarchy eventually relented and acquiesced to similar terms to Everton's final offer.

It has been suggested that a 20% sell-on clause based on any future profit the Toffees might make ended up being lower than initially proposed by Southampton.

“I'm buzzing to sign," Dibling told evertontv. "I felt the Club already, even before I was in the building, just from social media and from people telling me about the Club. I've never been so excited to play football and I'm just ready to get going.

“I think it's the perfect match because of where the Club is right now. Obviously with the new stadium, the fans here are unreal and it has a family feel to it. I think it was the perfect fit and was a no-brainer to join.

“I think I’ve come to Everton at the perfect time and hopefully I can be here for many years.

Dibling, who scored four goals in 44 games for Saints, has signed a four-year contract at will wear the No 20 shirt.

“[The Brighton win] gave me a feel for the Club. It looked unbelievable," he continued. "I also played in the last Men’s game at Goodison. It was so loud. I was looking around and thinking, 'This is quality'. That was a really good insight for me into what it's like here with the fans and the atmosphere they can create.

“There's no better feeling than when you're doing well in football and to feel that love from the fans is one of the best feelings ever. I'm excited to play here.”

One of the few positives of what was a miserable season for Southampton in the Premier League last season as they narrowly avoided recording the lowest ever points total for a top-flight side since 1992, Dibling follows Thierno Barry (22) and Adam Aznou (also 19) into the football club this summer as promising young recruits who can form the core of a new unit at Hill Dickinson Stadium for the long term.

He showed huge promise in the first half of Saints campaign but his form tailed off over the second half of the season, a dip attributed by observers to too many minutes too soon and his team's poor overall form.

Dibling is said to have been registered in time to feature in Everton's home tie against Mansfield Town in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening when Blues fans could get their first look at the latest new signing.

Can't wait until this guy gets going but we need to be patient and give him space to grow.

This is very exciting news.
Can’t wait for the mouth watering prospect of seeing how we are going to line up and who comes in before the deadline.

Surely a useful RB… even on loan, just to get us through til January.

If we start playing some Decent Football, in an awesome Stadium, in front of some truly awesome fans, surely that has to be a pull, for the decent players, who Missed out on CL Footy.

They once said «  if you build it, they will come ! » so CMONNN!

A really exciting signing. Of all our arrivals this summer I believe Dibling will prove to be the best in the medium to long term. While watching him at Goodison in May I hoped we might make a bid for him but imagined one of the elite clubs would beat us to his signature.

It is perhaps an indication of our rising stock that we have not only signed two players from two of the top clubs but also been able to recruit one of the outstanding teenage talents in the country.

Ndiaye, Dewsbury-Hall, Grealish and now Dibling are all players hungry for the ball, eager to make things happen. With McNeil and Alcaraz as cover we look strong in an area where we have been really weak in recent seasons.

After years of relying almost entirely on strong defensive application we now have a group of creative, attacking players who can both entertain us and win matches.

Wow, TFG have really started to tick off the wish list now. Very excited to see what young Tyler can do in a Blue shirt. The prospect of him, Jack and Iliman rampaging forward really gets the juices flowing!

We all know we're screaming out for a decent right back and we almost certainly need cover for Gana. But if TFG are really going to tick all the boxes, I would love to see Beto sold and a quality striker brought in. Barry has potential and a much higher ceiling than Beto, but wouldn't be great to have someone in front of the aforementioned trio who just has that knack of sticking it in the onion bag? A natural goal scorer, not just a half decent target man. Could be the difference between mid-table and a genuine push for the top 6.

Get a good right right back, buy or loan, and that will be a decent window.

Welcome Mr Dibling,
A master in the art of Dribbling.
Playing down by the waterside,
Such talent can turn the Tide.
To smash the redshite,
and really tan their hide.
After the prises we can be nibbling,
Not least due to the Mr Dibling.
Welcome, Tyler.

Great news. I’d start him against Mansfield. He should be fit and it’s not exactly a baptism of fire.
Go lad, show us what you can do.

Hello Paul.

To my knowledge you are right. I have never explored my family tree though. 😅

If Dibling & co. can have us nibbling after the prizes, what exciting times are coming!

A Man U work colleague has said that he thinks it is a 4 year contract so that if he blossoms into the star expected, a bigger team can grab him in a few years for lesser money than if longer term deal.

I sincerely hope our days as a feeder club to clubs we used to be better than, or at least equal peers, are behind us now.

May we have the great side to Grace our magnificent new home. A side that wants to stay and grow and improve and once again win silverware.

NSNO.

Very pleased with this signing, I imagine the 4 your deal is because we're not paying him a huge amount and he wants to be able to either negotiate a new deal or leave if he proves he's good enough. Fair enough to him, don't mind us selling players on for a profit, it's a change after having to let so many go for nothing!
