I'm disappointed with this draw. Not that I don't think we will beat them, but because I think they are a smashing club with fantastic fans. For years we travelled up there staying at a mining village cricket club.We had some cracking nights up there with them. Lovely people who love their team. They also know what it like watching the club they love being ran into the ground by shysters.
I guess My dream of meeting them at Wembley will have to keep for another year.
If one Evertonian is worth twenty Kopites. Then one Mackem must be worth 10 Geordies

I agree Darren's comments; my experiences are very similar & if the match is televised another Blue & I are invited to his.
A massive tv awaits; we will shake hands before & after the game whatever result.
A real breakthrough would be success in this cup.
That and a top ten finish would represent real progress.
Incidentally I know we view the women as peripheral to this site but I must pay tribute to to their astounding recent win at Chelsea.
Stirring stuff from 'the Bitches of War'.
I would settle for the same from the 'dogs' tomorrow.

Well, the televised games for the 3rd Round have been announced. And we're not one of them! So 3.00 on a Saturday afternoon it is. Looking forward to it already.

Never any doubt really Edward.
I expect a cracking atmosphere at our game. The Mackems will definitely make themselves be heard.
Has it been announced how many tickets we will give them yet ?

I read something the other day from a Sunderland fan, who reckoned that they would be getting nearly 8000 tickets Darren, which made me think that they must be getting about 15% of the allocated tickets?

Cheers Mate.
8.000 will guarantee a fantastic atmosphere

Ive said it many times Darren, but I still look back very fondly (before I start shivering at our cowardly exit against our neighbours) at the atmosphere the 6000 Evertonians, generated when we beat Sunderland at the stadium of light, the last time we played them in the FA Cup.
I remember Mouriniho, asking how 3000 Evertonians, could make a lot more noise than 40.000 Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge, and not long after the away fans were removed away from the dugouts down the side, to behind the goal, and I remember that it wasnt that long after that game at Sunderland, that the away fans were moved into the heavens, at the other end of the ground.
When I think of Everton v Sunderland, I always think about little Bradley Lowery, and his family now, so whoever wins this cup tie, can hopefully go all the way to Wembley and win the fa cup. It goes without saying, that I hope its Everton, because god knows we need it right now, but if its not going to be us then I genuinely wouldnt mind it being Sunderland.
Great fans I can still remember how many of them were at Goodison Pk, on a night they got relegated in the seventies. I might have been very young but I was already beginning to realise that football meant a lot more to certain sets of supporters, than it did to others.

Tony, was that the night that Coventry and someone else - Bristol City? - played a dull 0-0 to send Sunderland down? I was in the Street End that game. Another life.

I thought it was 2-2 with Bristol City, equalising very late in the game Paul.
I just remember at the end of the game hundreds of Sunderland fans dancing on the pitch because it had come over the tannoy that Coventry had beat Bristol City, which meant Sunderland were safe.
I remember people in the main stand, were saying that the game had been delayed and that Bristol City, had scored, and then not long after it came over the tannoy again, with the correct score line.
A cheer went up from the Glawdys St, and you could see the Sunderland fans on the pitch with their heads in their hands, no longer dancing and then I went outside there was Mackems kicking off everywhere.
They had a lot of supporters, I remember seeing a group of girls crying their eyes out, and it was the only time I can remember that there didnt seem to be a mob of Everton, returning fire with fire.

Darren/Tony, Everton and Sunderland fans. I think that you both will enjoy this, if you haven't already seen it.

Tony, of course you're right. Thanks for that and, yep, I do remember the mackems on the pitch and things did spill over a little.
There was a game, wasn't there, in those times when two teams played a bore draw to send someone down.
Anyway, Happy Xmas to both of you and everyone else

Cheers Paul.
Hope you and yours are enjoying the festive period my friend.
That goes to everyone else. Enjoy your christmas Blues.
We go again soon enough

Tough draw right now but who knows what Sunderland will do in the next month after a poor display at The Ethiad.
I'm waiting for and fully expecting their bubble to burst. If we could have a pick of three of their players we would be a stronger team/squad. Unlike us, their summer recruitment was very good.
That said, home advantage, a month of growth, we should win, and with a fair number of PL teams getting knocked out, we might see a path to Wembley. Or not. Oh God. I just want us to win something. Anything. Is the Watney Cup still going?
