2026 Begins with Another Hideous Showing at Hill Dickinson Stadium
Everton 2 – 4 Brentford
A shocking first-half display from the Blues somehow got worse before Beto gave them a sliver of hope… only for Thiago to romp away and grab a deserved hat-trick with two minutes of the 90 remaining.
Happy New Year? It almost never is with Everton. 2017 was the last time the Blues kicked off a new calendar year with a victory and in the years since they’ve been given home games to start the year on seven occasions and lost all of them.
Tuesday’s surprising and impressive win at Nottingham Forest promised a change to that miserable trend; the reality, however, was just more of the same with a performance and result entirely in keeping with the mercurial nature of the Blues' current season to date.
From the delay in the home team joining their opponents in the tunnel as the increasingly needless siren whined away on repeat on the PA to the final blast on referee Anthony Taylor’s whistle and boos from those Evertonians who remained inside Hill Dickinson Stadium, this was an almost complete shit-show from Everton.
Lazy and sloppy in possession, let down by their team captain, James Tarkowski, and uninspired by David Moyes’s curious team-selection decisions, they were bullied, out-fought, out-thought and out-run by a Brentford outfit who were operating on two days' less rest than their hosts.
There was nothing in Keith Andrews’s side’s tedious goalless draw with Tottenham at the Gtech Stadium on Thursday — or, indeed, their seven away defeats already this season — that hinted at their rampage by the docks this afternoon. By the same token, Toffees fans came into this first of three successive home fixtures hopeful of making further gains on the Premier League’s top five.
They should have known better; this is Everton after all, and only a late consolation goal by Thierno Barry avoided a repeat of the 4-1 humbling at home suffered against Newcastle in late November. Once again, the Blues felt wide open and vulnerable at times and were carved open far too easily.
Save for an assured cameo off the bench by 18-year-old Harrison Armstrong, the bit of fight shown by Beto as a half-time substitute for Tyler Dibling and a couple of moments of magic from Jack Grealish, there was nothing positive to come out of this shameful Everton display.
Tim Iroegbunam was as awful as he was promising at the City Ground a few days ago; James Garner, the undoubted star of Tuesday’s 2-0 triumph in the East Midlands was largely ineffective and outshone by Mikkel Damsgaard; Dwight McNeil was atrocious nominally playing in the No 10 role; Dibling, when not hung out to dry by non-existent support from any team-mates, was a non-entity on one flank; while Grealish, at least for the first hour or so, was peripheral to the action on the other.
Then there was the defence where a visibly unfit Michael Keane was rushed back and Moyes tried once again to bang the square peg of Jake O’Brien into the round hole at right-back while Tarkowski seemed to expend more energy and focus on his personal spat with Igor Thiago than his responsibility of leading the back line.
The result was a shocking first-half display from the Blues that somehow got worse before Beto gave them a sliver of hope… only for Thiago to romp away and grab a deserved hat-trick with two minutes of the 90 remaining.
Everton’s start was encouraging enough. Showing some early tenacity in the press that quickly evaporated as the Bees settled into the game, they pounced on a loose ball in the opposition half, Grealish flicked the ball to McNeil and his low shot prompted a fingertip save from Caoimhín Kelleher to divert it past his post. From the ensuing corner, Thiago had to head Tarkowski’s header away from his own goal line.
But it was Tarkowski who was infuriatingly at fault a few minutes later at the other end, gifting possession to Brentford with a suicide ball into traffic that was intercepted by Vitaly Janelt who crossed smartly for Thiago to prod past Jordan Pickford with a first-time finish.
With the first goal being so important in the modern Premier League, Everton needed to get back level quickly but, having done well to intercept a pass outside the Brentford area and borne down on Kelleher’s goal, Iroegbunam scuffed an ugly shot wide when he simply had to hit the target at least.
Barry headed tamely at the keeper and Dibling lacked the confidence to get a shot away later in the half but Brentford continued to look the hungrier and more decisive in their play.
An awful passage of Everton play was disrupted in one half and the Bees counter-attacked into the other in the 37th minute, with O’Brien blocking Kevin Schade’s shot behind for a corner before Damsgaard’s quick cross to the same player following Grealish’s giveaway ended with Pickford having to make a key save to keep the game tight at the halfway stage.
Moyes’s response to the dreadful fare he’d witnessed in the first period was to throw caution — and common sense — to the wind, by hooking both Dibling and McNeil and throwing Merlin Röhl and Beto on for the second. Barry, who had had a diving header saved in first-half stoppage time, remained on the field in a rare two-man forward line but the switch robbed Everton of what shape they’d had to that point.
And they were 2-0 down before the changes made at the interval could have an effect. Janelt delivered a corner onto the head of Nathan Collins and, like Micky van de Van and Malick Thiaw before him, he had the simple task of heading past Pickford from close range.
In the blink of an eye, Everton had completely imploded as a hopeful punt forward was dealt with by the visiting defence, Iroegbunam meekly gave the ball up to Matias Jensen near the halfway line and Schade held O’Brien off in the box long enough for Thiago to arrive and bury a shot that made it 3-0 with just five minutes of the second half played.
The hosts finally started to show some life again with an hour gone as Tarkowski tested Kelleher with a header that the Irishman acrobatically palmed over but it was Beto who pulled a goal back midway through the half to set up what could have been a grandstand finish to the game but ultimately wasn’t.
Grealish did superbly to out-fox his marker and whip in a dangerous cross that Beto guided into the far corner with an accomplished headed finish to make it 3-1.
Frustrated by Brentford’s spoiling tactics and Taylor’s fussy and erratic refereeing, Everton just couldn’t build on that platform, though.
Iroegbunam gave the ball away again and Pickford was able to get behind a deflected Thiago shot at one end while Garner collected a crisp pass by Armstrong in the Brentford area but saw his shot charged down at the other and Keane couldn’t steer another chance on target from Röhl’s cross. Pickford was needed again to stop Schade's volley.
And any hope of a dramatic late comeback was extinguished in the 88th minute. Everton were caught with everybody in the Bees’ half when Röhl’s limp delivery was cut out and Thiago was sent clear into a one-on-one showdown with Pickford that that Brazilian won by clipping the ball over the keeper and into the empty net.
Grealish’s clever footwork and chipped cross for Barry to nod home a second for the Toffees in stoppage time was worthy of better circumstances and will hopefully give Moyes food for thought when it comes to the on-loan star’s position in the team but it was scant consolation on another awful day by the Mersey.
Wednesday against bottom side Wolves offers the chance to quickly atone for this afternoon's disgrace but the manager will have plenty to ponder in the meantime, not least how open his team continues to be on home turf following heavy losses now against Spurs, Newcastle and an unspectacular but well-drilled and energetic Brentford.

I think Brentfords energy probably came about, once they realised how fragile we became after gifting them such a stupid and sloppy lead?
OBrien, head down plays it backwards. Tarkowski, who didnt really look like he wanted the ball, stupidly tried to play a pass that simply wasnt on (Im sure he was doing the old Pros trick to Dibling, after the ball found itself in our net?) and then Michael Keane, was caught completely at sea, and his keeper never had the awareness to realise this.
A terrible collective defensive goal to concede, and then an uphill battle, for a team that began to lose confidence, probably because they were aware they simply didnt have enough craft to go and get themselves back into the game.

Bad day at the office for Moyes and players. Sometimes, managers stumble onto a formation by accident. The smart ones catch on and stick to it. Moyes didn't do that today. He then doubled down by bringing on a second striker and taking off two supply lines.
The players were poor, too. A sluggish, incoherent mess. Dibling a disappointment again, not helped by a lack of support whenever he got the ball, double marked. Back four and centre mid were a wasteful, open barn door, laying out the red carpet for the energetic, purposeful Brentford strikers.
Who knows what to expect from this bafflingly inconsistent team against Wolves?

Wolves scored three goals against WH yesterday.. I watched the game and couldnt help but but ask myself, how the hell Wolves are on the Bottom.
That could be the catalyst for them to kick on.
Seriously, after seeing our performance today and that of wolves, does it fill you with Confidence ?

I never want to see McNeil start again. Only desperation sub appereances until he can be moved on.
And no more non-RBs at RB. I would rather lose with a RB (Patterson) playing RB instead of a CB or a CM pretending to be a RB. It's fooling no one. It is mind boggling it's lasted this long. Patterson looked shaky at times against Forest, but he also looked like a RB. This has to end. It's killing us and making Dibling's life way harder than it needs to be, frustrating him to no end, I'm sure. Real testament to Ndiaye that he has been as good as he has this season without any real support from RB.
Also, why change a winning side? Unless you have peak R9 coming back into the squad, stick with what's working. Keane did not look good today. Why rush him back? Patterson has to play until new singings come in. And the only downside would be that... O'Brien gets to play CB, where he has been nothing but impressive. I've said it before, Keane and Tarkowski are both at the age where they could go from serviceable to over the hill overnight. We are lucky to have such a young CB as O'Brien. He has to play.
No one knows which Tim Iroebunam will show up on any given day.
And who would have thought, Barry and Beto both score in the same game?
04/01/2026 21:08:36
How did West Ham play though Paul? Where they well drilled and did they compete aggressively, or did they lack confidence, craft and cohesion, once Wolves scored a couple of early goals?
04/01/2026 21:24:49
Well that was a stinker wasnt it? This ones on the players.
When youre good players are off the boil it really highlights the shortcomings of the average players and we have a good few of those.
Although I was a little surprised Moyes opted to reinstate Keane and put OBrien back to right back, its glaringly obvious it causes an unbalance and it really showed today, Keane wasnt as good as he has been this season which was unfortunate, also Garner underperformed with Iroegbunam getting outfought and overpowered in the middle, midfield was very fragile allowing Brentford to waltz through at will almost.
Days like these will continue to happen with the current bunch of players we have unfortunately, injuries and absences of key players are obviously a factor, much patience is needed as we continue to rebuild.

Brentford not in good form away from home. Bring on Everton.
First time at the Hill Dickinson to see a Premier League game. Had a feeling wed revert to being terrible just as we started to build our hopes.
I watched Dibling during the warm-up. He looked like a lost soul. I didnt seem him speak to a team mate. He seems a very quiet character and I wonder whether home games will be too intimidating for him. He plays better in tight spaces but doesnt seem good at attacking a fullback.
Bloke next to me berated Grealish all game but he was the only player carrying any sort of threat and created two goals.
Getting sick of Tarkowskis regular mistakes and laughing whilst trailing. I cant imagine Peter Reid smiling at 0-3.
Only positives for me were Armstrong when he came on. At least he looked to drive us forward. Garner seemed to be the only player intent on winning the ball back. Grealish created chances. Its a low bar but at least Beto put himself about and scored a good headed goal.
Theres a lot of abuse for Moyes but hes steadied the ship. We need better recruitment. Its that simple. We havent had a good striker since Lukaku left. We need Dewsbury-Hall, Ndiaye and Branthwaite back and to sign fullbacks and a goal scorer. Until then, we will continue to be consistently inconsistent.
Wish we had a team has good as the stadium; its magnificent.

Tbh, they looked all over the place.
They couldnt compete. They made Wolves look good and in reality they did look good.
There was a lot of cohesion and dynamism to their play.
I would expect this to come with confidence,
I personally felt that Wolves were very tidy and grafted well for their win.
As opposed to the first ten min of our game, where we played like we could score the first goal.. until the Gift!
My point being, that the trend usually follows the form team and that would be enough to have me worried about our next game.
I thought that we were going to approach this game, with the same Team that finished the last one.
I honestly thought that Rohl and Dibling had struck up a little something and might have been able to improve on it, in the following game.
but for some strange reason Moyes decided to revert to playing OObrien out of Position.
Its just so frustrating to see.
Im not an expert on the game, but some things are glaringly obvious.
04/01/2026 22:44:43
That was a truly horrifying performance.
Ill blame Moyes for playing a clearly unfit Keane and for putting OBrien at right back, but once they step over the line, its down to the players.
A shocking passage of play from most of the defence gifted them the first goal and we then proceeded to give the ball away with monotonous regularity.
Special mention must go to McNeal and Tim who strolled lazily around the pitch offering nothing and Dibling who never got into the game.
Im also sick of seeing Barry get knocked off the ball by opposing centre halves. He needs to toughen up.
The only bright spot was Armstrong who as soon as he came on wanted the ball and drove forward, something that had been lacking all game. He must start Wednesday.
We picked ourselves up after the awful Burnley display so lets hope we do the same Wednesday.
04/01/2026 22:50:53
This was a really poor team performance. Shortcomings were exposed all over the pitch. The inability to defend set pieces in home matches has become glaringly evident. Our central defenders, always vulnerable to pace, looked especially slow and cumbersome today. The midfield pair were unable to impose themselves on the opposition, frequently caught out by quick one-two passes. Our attack, notwithstanding the two assists from Grealish, never looked fluent. In short our team looked anything but compact, anything but a cohesive unit and played pretty much like a relegation outfit. Arguably the 2-4 scoreline flattered our performance. The Bees looked capable of scoring every time they attacked.
Our home form is now bordering on a crisis with four defeats in the last six played. The squad is threadbare. Young players like Dibling and Iroegbunam inevitably lack consistency, especially if more seasoned colleagues drop below their normal standard as most of them did today. The return of Gana, Ndiaye and KDH cannot come quickly enough. Moreover it will surely not be lost on Moyes that our back line looks far more secure with OBrien at centre back.
05/01/2026 06:36:38
John (11), well put as always. Your last line cant come to fruition soon enough now. Keane has performed well enough for most of the season and retaining him on another year has proved vital but statistics show we concede fewer goals with OBrien at centre-half.
Mykolenko also performs better with one of Branthwaite or OBrien next to him compared with Keane.
Most importantly, however, the time to end the OBrien-at-right-back experiment is well past its use-by-date. Its neither fair on him nor young Dibling who was visibly frustrated at the lack of support he was getting.
05/01/2026 07:18:03
Moyes wanted containment and a deep defensive formation to start with, which unravelled with a pass into traffic. Then Everton had to get forward, but didn't as a unit exposing gaps, lack of support and lack of pace particularly for defending on the turn.Thiagos goals looked like tap ins.
Keane may be ok individually but as a team player he has always been exposed when a cohesive unit defending and going forward is required. Tarks has always had a error in him, but in Moyes defensive system, with defenders and winger deep, and a isolated attack.has always thrown up the weakness of defensive errors.Any skill in attack was heavily countered by defensive exposure.
Moyes managed that game badly from beginning to end.He actually played to suit Brentford's preparation training routine. It was a training ground performance from Brentford with one set piece and goals to match.
05/01/2026 08:36:36
It was a game that had me ranting at the screen, exasperation and annoyance mixed with disbelief. Nothing surprises me with Moyes, but the selection of Keane to partner Tarkowski after O'Brien did so well at Forest, was a real stunner. O"brien is not and never will be a full back. Not only has he not got the pace or positional awareness to play there, but his failings against players with speed who double up around him are criminal. His petulant trip of a Brentford player somehow didn't get him a yellow card it should have at the very least. Dreadful tactics by the manager.
But more than that was the utter disinterest shown by so many. Compare the give and go play of Brentford against the attempted pass and amble of our midfield. I don't think we won a single second ball, period.
Interestingly I think it was the first time Moyes has played both Beto and Barry together, they both scored? What to read into that? For too long we have played with a single striker and they end up dejected, running channels, very Everton that.. ask Calvert Lewin..
The game didn't surprise me, but it really annoyed me because of the attitude of the players, their heads went down and no-one lifted them. Rohl was dreadful, McNeil, Tim likewise and Dibling looks very unhappy.
This sums up our season for me, when we are good, we aren't bad, when we are off our game we are bloody awful.
Makes you wonder why they let Young go, (I know, I know but)
Frankly there are quite a few regulars who don't deserve to be there. Even the manager with a ready made excuse..
05/01/2026 08:59:18
The problem was not that Moyes made changes, but that of the starting 11 only Garner and Grealish were very good.
After a good opening 10 minutes, when we should have had the lead, Brentford were much the better team.
OBrien was good, but has obvious and painful limitations playing out of position, as does Myko, who is not playing out of position. ( why cant Baines sort out his crossing and general attacking full ball play ? )
On the positive front, Armstrong was very good when he came on, looking like a confident senior established player.
05/01/2026 09:32:52
The problem for the Wolves game is that we, presumably, will have the same set of players.
Armstrong must start in place of Tim and OBrien at centre half with Keane on the bench.
With such limited resources we are struggling for a No. 10 so I wouldnt be surprised to see McNeal keep his place.
Moyes must make some changes as the fan base is growing uneasy and the muttering around where I sit will grow louder
05/01/2026 09:45:27
Paul@9, thanks for the response mate. Wolves seem to have been making a fist of it lately, because nobody is really putting them to bed early, like we have been put to bed, in quite a few of our home games, and I think we are all aware that no game in the EPL, is easy, especially in early January, when we have got a lot of our better players out.
Lets get through the next two games, then hopefully see a few of our better players return, and surely TFG, will try and bring in a right back otherwise we might has well change their initials to TDG. (The Dividend Group)
05/01/2026 10:57:35
with this team (and most teams) the first goal is key. I think Tony you pointed out that it wasn't just Tarkowsky's fault in that it was a bad ball to him from Jake. And then from there we just didn't get the luck. A perfect ball, and a fantastic pass into the net. I mean, what can you do. And after the last couple of home games it's not surprising that the air went out of our balloon a bit.
I'm not now that I've mulled it over going to stress on the team or the manager about this one. We've got lots of injuries, and are still settling into the new home. It is slightly concerning though that we are starting to get whacked by quite mediocre teams at home. the players seem to feel not quite at home there, in fact a little intimidated. It's not Goodison in its hey day that's for sure at the moment. And sods law we've not got the chance to have an away game to rectify matters. Two more games at HD. I have to say I wouldn't be surprised to see us lose the next two either. It's just the way these things sometimes happen. You go on a good run, but sometimes you can hit a bad run too. We may be due one, with a patched up team and an unfamiliar ground, and an anxious crowd.
We just need to get the experienced players back and ride it out.
And for those saying Moyes hung Dibling out to dry, what should he have done then? Not played Jake, so, what, play Patterson? Does anyone really think yesterday would have gone better with Patterson at right back?
05/01/2026 11:47:30
I would suggest that away teams find Bramley-Moore less of a challenge than Goodison, due to the way that more expensive seats dominate the sidelines.
No longer is there a partisan paddock and Lower Bullens to dispense advice to opposing players.
As for the visiting team manager and his coaches, they can now hear themselves think, as their bench is in the midst of the bland, corporate area where, it would appear, no noisy, angry Blues tell them to sit down and shut up.
Our home form is no better than our away form, both won four, drawn two, lost four.
Notably, in the aways, we have not conceded more than two goals in a game. At home, we have let in three goals or more in three matches.
05/01/2026 11:49:13
The pass into traffic was a systemic failure in that players were not available to receive the ball and the team was not even thinking of moving forward.
05/01/2026 12:17:19
A quick note of support for Michael Keane. Hes played well this season but looked (to me at least) less than 100% fit on Saturday and should not have started.
Thiago is a handful for any defender, let alone one who is half fit.
Also it seemed to me that this game was won/lost in midfield- where we were 2nd best all afternoon.
Our only creativity came from Jack Grealish. 3 great crosses produced 2 goals (and should have been a 3rd from Barry).
05/01/2026 12:17:28
I was struck by how at home Thiago felt Mike when he was settling down in the seats after his hat trick, getting high fives from everyone. there was no sense he was needing to keep his head down!
05/01/2026 13:10:52
I was struck by how much Thiago, just stayed up front, and concentrated on just playing centre forward Kevin.
I get bemused watching our one striker coming back to defend on what Id describe as the wrong side of the ball, which instantly takes away an outlet, but to see us going 4-4-2, and watching both our centre forwards, both coming back to defend on the wrong side of the ball, at exactly the same time was absolutely bemusing.
I once managed a team of absolute lunatics once in the Liverpool Sunday league, and even those players knew we had to keep at least one player up at all times.
05/01/2026 22:18:53
I've said before, going back to Tim Howard, we've had difficulty with crowded penalty areas at corners, as on Sunday. So - leave 2 players on the halfway line. The opposition has to leave at least 3 defenders back plus goalkeeper. Minus the corner taker, means the opposition can have a maximum of 6 attackers in the penalty area. Much easier to deal with. And less chance of the ball coming straight back if cleared.
06/01/2026 06:52:09
Et tu, Lyndon ?
Keane has shown a level of consistency Tarkowski has not been able to get near this season. Yet you think it is Tarkowski who should be partnering O'Brien in the center of defence.... Why ? Past performances in seasons gone by ?
I'm at a complete loss to understand why the majority of Evertonians are still advocating Tarkowski in their preferred line up. Take out the performance against Forest and he has been a complete liability all season. Sunday was as bad a defensive performance by an Everton player as I remember seeing.
If we are going to look at results. Why don't we look at the games when Tarkowski wasnt playing at the end of last season. I think we won them all
06/01/2026 08:56:09
Darren @25
Keane has Certainly reversed Roles as « The Villain ! » this Season and Quite frankly, I wouldnt have Tarkowski in the starting eleven.
Lets not forget, apart from his one in 6 good games, which came against forest, he was guilty of missing an absolute glaring sitter, with his head, that was easier to score than miss.
But, this only compounded his, at least one Balls-Up per game ratio.
06/01/2026 12:55:28
A day will come when we have a genuinely good, scrappy, pacey RB who can whip crosses in, and Branthwaite and OBrien together in central defence. Think of that mobility. Its not too much to ask to have all that in the next few weeks, is it?
06/01/2026 13:31:32
Arguments over Tarkowski and Keane, remind me of arguments over Dyche and Moyes.
We want better and we need better, and although there can be no arguments that Tarkowski, was very poor on Sunday, Darren, but so was his defensive partner, imo.
Catching flies for the first goal with his complete lack of awareness towards danger, and then catching flies again when he took himself into an area that he didnt really want to be in, and the Brentford player, just casually rolled it through his legs, before setting up goal number three.
06/01/2026 14:57:12
Na,cant agree with any of that Tony.
Tarkowski's pass out was an absolute killer. You don't need to be told how damaging it is to give the ball away there. It means the whole team has to re-adjust when they thought they were going to push up. Keane wasnt catching flies. he took up the text book position at the near post. I don't think any center half would have done otherwise. The cross would have beaten anybody and the movement from Thiago was first class.
I don't share any blame around for that goal. I think It was all on Tarks
06/01/2026 17:30:44
Sadly the 2nd game reverse following a very good performance continued and Everton, were lucky not concede more, and were well beaten by a team that played with confidence and belief.
Why change the Team, only Moyes knows, but sny balance in the defence was gone.
Same old story, from the home games this season. Getting mugged off at corners is now a nap.
So whwt is being done at Finch Farm, to stop this, re ains to be seen.
Wolves will be on a high and will fancy their chances.
I hope Tarks, stops watching Glenn Keeley videos and all the energy he wastes on trying to get in the opponents head.
His current tactics are back firing and his unforced errors costing goals. But as a team each player should play for the shirt.
Tomorrow lets see a solid Everton performance with no square pegs in round holes.
Start with Armstrong and play if avaiable. Patterson, who overall done well v Forest after a nervy start.
But a win would be a boost for all around at Everton.
06/01/2026 18:23:30
Sitting in that part of the ground, I personally thought it was a collective calamity Darren, from the moment OBrien (I feel like Im watching a game of chess when Jake, gets the ball because alls I keep saying to myself is check) gave Tarkowski a ball he didnt want.
Tarkowski should have emptied it, he never, and Keane didnt have to over cover the near post, which really helped their centre forward, make the most sensible run on offer.
The cross was really good but once Michael digs his feet in, he doesnt have the ability to change direction and from my seat in the stadium, I could see Keane, had got himself under the ball again. (Ive genuinely never seen a central defender get underneath the ball as much as him in all my years of playing or watching football) and when the ball went over his head, because he was gawping with his mouth open, it looked to me like he was catching flies.
Once the ball went over his head it was no surprise to see the keeper staying rooted to his line, even though it wasnt hard to see Keane was in trouble, from the minute, he got sucked towards the ball.
Thats how I saw it Darren, with the thing about mistakes is that nobody means to make them even though everyone does, so when you make a mistake on a football pitch, then this is the time you often need your mates to bail you out.
06/01/2026 07:34:30
Fair enough Tony
I think Keane took up the perfect position. The one that will block any cross that isn't perfect.
In the event of the opponent delivering the perfect cross (and he did) You just have to hope cover is coming around the back. Unfortunately Mykolenko, like the rest of the team, was wrong footed by Tarkowski's error. I don't think any team can fully legislate for a clanger of that magnitude.
We're going to have to agree to disagree on this one
07/01/2026 09:46:33
Lets hope we can keep a clean sheet tonight Darren, thats the most important thing right now.
07/01/2026 15:06:36
Indeed mate. We have had three days to vent. Now's the time to get behind the manager and the players. Whoever plays
07/01/2026 16:06:12
We have responded well after the two previous heavy home defeats this season.
Following the Spurs defeat, we took seven points from three games.
After the Newcastle debacle, we won our next two matches.
In both cases, the first game was away (Sunderland, Bournemouth). Whether that helped in any way, I don't know. But it might be more useful than normal to score first tonight, to soothe home crowd anxieties.

An absolute chaotic inept performance, by several of our extremely ordinary players (some of which are extremely one-footed!) and havent got the talent to play top flight football, let alone grace the Turf of our New Home, sporting the Royal Blue Colours, which were worn down through the years by legends.. of which these overpaid wannabes could only dream of!
Yes scathing I know, but the harsh reality of it in 2026, is absolutely frightening.
Forget about the players we are missing.. thats no excuse for the players on the pitch.
they cant hide behind each other!
WTF was Tarkowski ( another outrageous contract extension !), doing when he passes that Ball.. not to one.. but to two Brentford players!!
Hes averaging a Balls-up per game!
That action alone sealed our fate.
Sometimes theres no coming back from errors. It reverberates and It causes Panic and pandemonium, which it inevitably did, among the Team.
Some ( me included !), would like Davey Lad to delve into the transfer market, just to see if we can get an upgrade on a handful of these dreadful types.
My only concern is that Moyes will splurge another 40 million pounds on a pair of Orange football boots!
If hes going all out to buy Boots, can he at least make it « Billys Boots », for someone.
