Looking at the league table it is clear where are problems lie: there are only 3 teams with a better defence than Everton two of them are 1st and 2nd in the table, the other 6th.

We have only lost 10 games, some of them tight, but have only won 8. Only the bottom 3 have won fewer.

We have drawn 14 games, the most in the division, but most glaring of all is the fact that we have only scored 34 goals. Again only the bottom 3 have scored less.

We have no one in the top 25 leading scorers in the league. No 25 has only scored 9.

It appears that we only need to add a goalscorer to reach the promised land, but its more complex than that.

We need the fullbacks to contrbibute more. Although Vitalii Mykolenko has improved considerably, Jake O'Brien will now surely revert to centre-back. The midfield players need to add goals to their undoubted industry, but we are crying out for creative wide players.

I think Iliman Ndiaye is wasted out wide. He often has to beat 3 players often just to get near to the penalty area.

I  dont think Beto is consistent enough; the same goes for Armando Broja. Liam Delap would be a good addition and if he has any sense he would not go to Chelsea or Manchester United — both graveyards for strikers, which leaves us as a guaranteed starting place every game.

It will be an interesting close season.
