Brilliant article Roy, I remember leaving Goodison one night after a dire Dyche team performance and telling a young man with his Dad,' that wasn't really anything to do with football '. And that's part of the problem it's years since we had a successful team and so many of our younger supporters have never seen their team playing ' beautiful football '. But you and your son are lucky to have shared watching games together. My Dad died when I was 7 and I never had the joy of going to a game with him. So if you can, keep going together, we are a better team than we have been for some years and hopefully we will continue to improve.

Sorry that you never got to go with your dad, David. It's been a massive bonding exercise for both me and Alex. We've had our ups and downs throughout the years, but the blues hold us together. Thank you for your kind words.

Great stuff, Roy, I'm expecting my first child in July and I'm day dreaming about having that kind of relationship with my son or daughter.

I used to go to the game with my Dad, I was 9yrs old the first game I attended but didn't really get into it properly until I was 12...then Everton became my whole world! Great memories of the 90s watching us under Big Joe Royle despite that decade being mainly woeful.

Hopefully the Blues will allow our children to finally see another major trophy before too long.

Good read, thanks for taking the time to write it Roy. I've tried a couple of times with my daughters, but they just aren't into football unfortunately. Everton could play like 1970's Brazil and they still wouldn't be arsed.

Roy, thats a brilliant read.

Everton, is very, ery important and the transience from leaving Goodison, with a life time of nemories, the very good and the bad, and going to Hill Dickinson, is taking me some time, to adjust.

The nostalgia of the "executive seats" right at the back of the Gwladys Street, with partial views, verbal poetry - good and bad, and the downstairs queuing chaos, at half time, and visions of my Dad, is taking time, in my case, to adjust.

The pubs around Goodison, it seems will all fade into history.

My lad loves the new stadium and so do I, the history and the design to celebrate Everton FC, is incredible.

Being an Evertonian, is character building and provides good life skills.

Im hoping the home form, now with the spine of the team, all available will see wn upturn in home form.

Now to beat Brighton!
Enjoy this game if you and Alex, are going!
