I have reached an age were I know my kids find it increasingly difficult to buy presents for me, and they know that I don't need any more Everton gear, and that I have read too many 'football books'. So it was a surprise when one of my sons sent my another book.

It's titled There's Gonna Be A Show and it's written by Jimmy Mulville. I have been a fan of his work on TV, however, I was unaware that he was born in Liverpool, and has been a life long Blues supporter. So I was encouraged to read it, which I did in two sessions.

Jimmy is 71 and writes lovingly about his lifelong obsession with Everton. And what a life he has had, it has certainly not been boring. I am ten years older than him and my love affair with Everton follows a similar time line, and he details all the ups and the many downs, only as someone who has been there and done it can.

I loved the book, it's only £ 10.99 and I can whole heartily recommend it.

I loved it too. Jimmy went to my school, about 15 years before me, and grew up in Walton. I could relate to so much of his story, though he saw the real glory years with Alan Ball. Like my Dad he was completely obsessed with him.

Totally agree. My younger daughter gave me this book at Christmas. It is an easy, excellent read.

Agree with the comments above. It is only a short book & an easy read. His love of Everton comes through on every page. Jimmy & his family lived next door to my mate's family in Wellbrow Road (though Jimmy was a lot older) so mention of the old Hermy pub brought back many happy memories as well.

Thanks for Evertonia for telling me about the book! On Friday, I was 74 and my wife and I travelled back to Huyton from Northants to go on the stadium tour!

But back to the book, a great read and an insight into how EFC memories, not just of games enjoyed, but the ghosts of relatives and friends no longer with us.

My wife is now reading the book even though she is not football fan at heart, being from South Wales. She has been to well over twenty matches since 2003 and never seen the Blues lose!

I could see parallels with my relation ship with EFC being similar age!

I am now in a mood of EFC contentment that Goodison has been succeeded by Hill Dickenson that the future is potentially bright for club but mainly EVERTONIANS. I almost feel that if I never see another home game because I have seen the potential of the revival of the club because of the special decent character of so many Toffee People. I look at old videos and have seem the time and time again, but for me the magic now is seeing EVERTONIANS BEING HAPPY!

On You Tube, two highlights stand out as to what the club means to all of us. Both are from EFC Goals from all angles. The Michael Keane equaliser against Spurs, seeing the oldies at the front of Gwladys Street dancing with so much joy. The seconds is Docoucore's life saving goal against Bournemouth and the reaction of a young boy in the Stanley Park end!

Bless yo all the players, managers but mostly our PEOPLE!
