Everton’s last ever match at Goodson Park has finally been set in stone with a 12pm kickoff on Sunday, 18 May announced by the club and TNT Sports who will broadcast the game.

Confirmation of the scheduling of the historic fixture against Southampton comes almost two weeks after the announcement was first expected as the Premier league and the broadcasters have crashed out the details for the ultimate set of fixtures of the league season.

No matches could take place on Saturday the 17th because of the FA Cup Final, which restricted Everton to the Sunday or the Monday for the fixture.

Everton’s Fan Advisory Board had written to the broadcasters employing them not to select Monday night for the game because of the logistical problems presented by the fact that it would be a school and work night for supporters wishing to remain at the stadium well beyond the final whistle to take in any festivities planned by the club.

Both fans and the Everton hierarchy had pitched for an evening kickoff of around 7pm and had found TNT amenable to that time, but the club received pushback from the local authorities who were concerned about the possibility of all day drinking and crowd control for those supporters wanting to gather in the area around the stadium, even if they didn’t have tickets.

Excellent news for the match-goers.

A win and a gala afternoon.

Many of us will be attending without a game ticket just TO BE THERE. Are there any plans for events for non match attending supporters?

Denis, I would imagine that due to policing concerns, the club won’t be actively encouraging people to congregate in the area around the ground but folks will still be there to soak up the atmosphere and be part of the celebrations
