Wags and critics used to claim that OBE stood for ‘Out Before Easter’.

I sincerely hope not. Moyes did a fantastic job of turning a sinking ship into battling side with most of the players buying into his management style and philosophy.

Moyes first time around at Everton was learning the ropes and woe betide the player who didn’t stick to his rigid game plan.

Age seems to have mellowed him, no more screaming and animated gesticulations from his technical area and more of the Ancelotti like rumination from the manager. Who seems to trust the players to get things right more than he used to.

I’ve a feeling if he is supported in the transfer market and gets the right players for the key positions we’re lacking, most importantly a striker who knows where the back of the net is, we’re going to shake a few trees next season.

Well done to Moyes - the award is well deserved.

I will never understand some of the vitriol aimed at Moyes by some of our fans. Of course, he is not the perfect manager (who is?) but he's proved this season he's a good fit for Everton. He was hampered by a small lack of quality and resources (and Rooney's desire to jump ship) in his first stint but my goodness, he got some great tunes out of his players! I understand why he took the Man U job and why he would have liked to take players he knows with him, which is where some of the vitriol seems to emanate from.

My main frustration was back then that 'knife to a gunfight' sentiments and comments helped us not quite hit the real heights and was glad that he left when he did but my goodness do I wish he'd stayed after most of what came afterwards! Martinez first season was brilliant and we came so close but we had to then put up with his amateur psychology and relentless positive spin contrary to the facts thereafter!

Anyway congrats Moyes on the well deserved OBE and here's to a trophy with us during Moyes chapter 2!
