Brighton will be first visitors to Hill Dickinson Stadium
Everton's first opponents in a competitive match at their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock will be Brighton & Hove Albion following the release of the fixtures for the 2025/26 Premier League season.
As expected, the Blues' first game will be away from home in a televised match on Monday 18 August, with David Moyes taking his team to Elland Road to face newly-promoted Leeds United on the opening day and, for the second successive year, the Seagulls will be the opposition for the first home game.
Everton will also finish the campaign away from Hill Dickinson Stadium with a date with Tottenham on Sunday 24 May.
The first Merseyside derby of the season will be at Anfield this season on 20th September while Liverpool will visit the Dock for the first time on 18 April.

We have not won a league match in August since 2021 under Rafa Benitez. While a strong start offers no guarantee about what will follow, a poor start heaps immediate pressure on everyone, especially the manager.
David Moyes will of course recognise the importance of securing an early win at our new home. Beating Brighton, one of our mid-table competitors, would herald a much needed uplift in home form while helping to establish the Hill Dickinson as a fortress.
Obviously it is critical the majority of our recruitment is completed in the early weeks of pre-season to ensure a revamped squad can approach the new season with confidence.

Getting off a to a positive start provides such a lift, the kind we've been denied for four years now as you say, John. Kicking off away from home can be a boost if you win it as well. I just hope Moyes can bury this hoodoo we've had against newly-promoted teams that seems to go all the way back to the Marco Silva days.

Sean, it might just be me but being honest my expectations are not a “lot” higher. I do expect an improvement but given the scale of the rebuild my expectation is to be in the fight for 8th to 12th. Brighton in 8th were 13 points above us and Villa in 6th that could normally expect European qualification were 18 points ahead of us
Too often we have set expectations too high and then struggled under that expectation. Personally I think we have to use this seasons windows to establish a strong squad that we can then build on in next summers window to push on to challenge for Europe

Publication of the fixture list always brings a pang of nostalgia for the little fixtures card you could pick up at Higsons' pubs. Happier, simpler days.

The term "fixtures" seems rather inappropriate nowadays

Hopefully well get off to a strong start next season. With some smart recruitment our expectation levels should be a lot higher..
