Everton appoint ex-City Group finance head as new CFO
Everton have announced that they have hired Martyn Hawkins as its new Chief Financial Officer.
Hawkins fills the role of finance director recently vacated by James Maryniak and, reporting into CEO Angus Kinnear, he will oversee all of the club's financial operations.
Beginning his career as an auditor with global financial services firm Deloitte, he has more than two decades' experience in sport finance and strategic leadership.
He spent 12 years with Manchester City FC and City Football Group where he held senior positions including Interim Group CFO, Group Finance Director and Club Finance Director.
Most recently, he has been leading his own sports advisory business, working with organisations across the football industry.

Peter, I'm cynical enough about football and how it's run that this now doesn't bother me. To be honest, all, I can see is his potential experience in developing City as a financia entity. After the kicking we received over the PSR rules, I only care about how the club can benefit for itself.
I think it's a very savvy signing. Granted, we don't have the injection of cash they received with their takeover, but we do have a new stadium to help with finances, and owners who would seem to know what their doing.
If he can help develop the financial and commercial side of the club then great.

Err, do we want a CFO potentially tainted / caught up in the City 115 charges of alleged financial wrongdoing???
