Everton close to appointing new academy head
Everton are hoping to conclude the hiring of Dean Rastrick from Norwich City as their new Academy Director at Finch Farm.
Once of Tottenham Hotspur, Rastrick is at the top of the Blues' list to fill the post vacated by Gareth Prosser last year following what has been described by The Athletic as "an extensive search process led by technical director Nick Cox".
Rastrick, 50, is the Canaries' Director of Development and should he join Everton's academy, he would round out the fufilment of a number of key openings in the club's recruitment and development setup undertaken by The Friedkin Group and CEO Angus Kinnear over the past 12 months.

Seems like we are appointing the Headmaster, and as we all know the best schools generally have great Headmasters, so my hope is that this Guy will prove to be the inspirational success our young players need. Dupont is quite right when he points to the long line of young players who have been developed by our neighbours, we need to catch up. Ok we have loads of ex youngsters playing in the lower leagues, but it will be better for everybody if we can up the quality and number of the young players we develop.

Good news indeed, in terms of the ongoing modernisation of our academy set up that has been left to rot by Kenwright and Moshiri.
Turning our academy into a conveyor belt of worthwhile talent (aka good enough for the Championship and other top continental leagues at the very least) is critical for the long term financial viability of the club.
Hate to quote the Red S*ite, but our ideal goal is to be able to produce annually at least one or two Jordan Ibe/Ben Doak that can be sold for good amount to replenish the club's coffer (if they can't make the first team for various reasons).
